Today it has been a year! And I want to express my appreciation to you, I want to say thank you so much for all your wonderful help. My sincere apologies, but I want to say that you deserve more than that and more. Many blessings to you Dr. Makker and your wonderful staff! You have been an angel sent from heaven because you do care about people; you care about people getting better no matter what social statuses are. You are an excellent Doctor, a great person and you are a true hero; you have saved a lot of people from pain.

 

When I first step-in your office I was in excruciating pain and all I wanted to do is lay down and take pain meds. And since I had surgery I have been feeling much better on my lower back, I can actually walk and without a crutch or a wheelchair, I want to thank you, thank you for everything you have done for me!

I am a Neurosurgeon myself, so I know who is the best in Oregon and Washington and even California. I have contacts all over the country and could have gone anywhere for my Cervical Discectomy and Fusion. But, I knew that Dr. V. James Makker had the best reputation in Oregon and Washington and chose him. I am so glad I did. Dr. Makker was able to get me in very quickly which was extremely important as I was in such severe pain with my arm getting more numb and weak by the day. I was in agony and could not work and did not even want to live! I saw Dr. Makker and had my Cervical Discectomy & Fusion as an outpatient at East Portland Surgery Center and went home pain free, with no more numbness or weakness in my arm within 1 hour after surgery…Absolutely Amazing!!! As an Orthopedic Surgeon, it was important to find the best Neurosurgeon for my Lumbar and Cervical Disc Herniations. I found Dr. V. James Makker based upon a referral from another Surgeon in Portland who also had surgery by Dr. Makker. In addition, Dr. V. James Makker was able to see me in two days vs. weeks or months. I was in such severe pain with my arm and leg going numb. I could not operate or see patients myself…how could I wait weeks or months! I saw Dr. Makker and had both a Cervical Discectomy & Fusion and a Lumbar Microdiscectomy within the next several days. As an Orthopedic Surgeon myself, I can truly say that Dr. V. James Makker has incredible bedside manner. He took so much time to explain things to me so well. I can tell that he really cares about his patients and his reputation. Before I entered the OR, the surgical nurse reassured me that Dr. V. James Makker was the best Neurosurgeon in Oregon and Washington. She told me that out of all the Neurosurgeons in the Portland area (and after watching many of them work herself), she chose Dr. V. James Makker to perform her own operation. That was the best news I could have heard before going “under the knife”. I woke up and my horrible pain and numbness was gone after each surgery! Dr. Makker changed my life and I was able to go back to work and see patients in two days and operate on my own patients within a week! It is now six months post-surgery and I am feeling great. I cannot thank Dr. V. James Makker and his wonderful staff enough for getting me in so quickly, explaining things so well to me, and getting me scheduled for surgery so soon, and the excellent surgical technique that he used to return my life and lively hood back to me. Dr. James Makker and his staff were absolutely exceptional! He got me in urgently for my cervical disc herniation in my neck when I was in severe pain and extremely worried about the numbness in my arm. Additionally, your office staff – particularly Charlotte, of course – is absolutely wonderful. When I do have to call for something, just hearing Charlotte’s voice on the phone puts me at ease.

You’ve given me back my life in more ways than I can tell you. Before my injury, I ran four miles a day and was an active mountain biker. I love to play tennis and go rock climbing with my kids. As far as my job, I’ve been in aviation for most of my life. If you were to read my first novel, you would understand why I don’t want to leave the industry. Having to work every day with pain and the fear of compounding my injury to the point of completely losing function is not something I would want to see anyone else go through.

Dear Dr. Makker – I find it difficult to put into words how I feel. The result of my surgery is beyond my expectations. After years of pain I am free. I had grown accustomed to the pain and accepted it as part of life. My whole life and well-being has changed for the good. I can think and concentrate at work and home.
